life and death

(click the cover for an excerpt.)

Every decision has a consequence. In some cases, the choices we make are a matter of life or death.

Daleville, Alabama. A small town even by small town standards. They'd been dead for 15 years. The murder and mutilation of the high school's beloved basketball coach and his beautiful wife left the residents scared, and scarred. When local boy Billy Jacobs confesses to the crime, it feels like closure might finally be at hand.

John Marsh, now a New York reporter, was there that fateful day. He grew up with Billy. Something doesn't feel right. Once back in Daleville, John begins to uncover the truth that links him and his friends to a horrifying past thought buried in the depths of the Choctawahatchee River.

What really happened that night? With every witness a potential suspect and every whisper a confession, the truth begins to surface. Why did Billy confess? Does the death penalty—and escape from his disease-torn body—hold the key to freedom?
